Amersham through the lens of George Ward

The Amersham Martyrs

Today Amersham is a peaceful market town, it wasn’t always the case, in the 16th century it was a centre of dissent.

The book looks at the origins and history of Lollardy, five men from the town were burnt to death, their crime being to want to use the English translation of the bible.
