Amersham Museum runs a monthly reminiscence group where we share our stories and memories from the past. These sessions are both stimulating and fun and give us the opportunity to meet new people. The sessions cost £2 per person and last for around an hour and always include tea, coffee and biscuits. The sessions are on Monday mornings, 10.30am – 11.30am The dates for 2018 are: 5th February, 5th March, 9th April, 14th May, 11th June, 9th July, 10th September, 8th October, 5th November, 3rd December.

Tuesdays 6th February – 27th March, 2pm-3pm

This course is for anyone who loves reading and would like to discover more about how novelists manage to engage us so powerfully. Starting with the extraordinary Wuthering Heights, course tutor Mary Sharp will guide you through different writing styles and techniques. Absolutely no prior knowledge required. Tuesdays 6th February – 27th March, 3.30pm-4.30pm

This course is for anyone who would like to develop their enjoyment for and confidence in poetry. Looking at writers from John Milton to Bob Dylan, course tutor Mary Sharp will guide you through different genres and techniques that writers use to create powerful emotional effects. No prior knowledge needed.

Discover the wonderful watercolours of local artist Car Richardson, who lived in Chesham Bois. This exhibition, which features many previously unseen works, focuses on her paintings of local people, places and events from the end of WWI to the 1940s.

Inspired by the watercolour paintings of Car Richardson, make your own watercolour insects or garlands out of paper doilies.

Join our special project to create your own memory box. Work with museum staff and an artist to bring together special objects, photos and documents to make a box or a book that you can share with friends and family. This is a project open to people of all ages! Booking is required but the sessions are offered for FREE with the support of the Santander Foundation, Tesco Bags for Help and Chiltern District Council.

The project runs for six weeks on a Monday afternoon, 1pm-3pm. You can book for either Monday 19th February – 26th March OR Monday 11th June – 16th July.

Fortnightly on Thursdays from 22nd February, 10am – 12 noon, £2 per person per session

For beginners to the more experienced, this fun social knitting group provides a place for people to knit together and learn and develop their skills from experienced craftspeople.

The Chiltern Club of Arts, a thriving cultural group established in Chesham Bois in 1919, has been relaunched at Amersham Museum. There is a wide range of classes, talks and workshops, delivered by teachers, artists and artisans. Where bookings is required use our website unless detailed otherwise.

These free, weekly craft workshops offer a mixed programme of talks and workshops by skilled artists and artisans, plus a chance to have a go yourself. Contact or go to our website to book a place.

Create an impressive display for Easter this year and learn how to make a wonderful Spring table centre. This session is facilitated by Shaw’s of Amersham. Price includes materials, tea, coffee and cake.

A walk around Old Amersham viewing the old buildings which make Old Amersham unique. The talk explains the history of the town and covers the High Street and Broadway plus St. Mary’s church, School Close and Mill Lane and the Platt and Whielden Street. 1 1/2 – 2 hours.
