DESCRIPTION:Join us at our monthly session for a sing-a-long to much loved songs from the 20th century. Everyone is welcome\, and no musical experience is necessary. We sing for fun and as a sociable way to get together. \nThe FREE sessions are once a month on a Tuesday from 10am to 11.30am. Just drop in\, no need to book in advance. \nYou are very welcome to bring a family member\, friend or carer. The sessions are held in our first floor room\, but there is lift access. Our volunteer lacemakers will demonstrate how bobbin lace is made there will be a chance to give it a go yourself\, ask questions\, and learn about the history of bobbin lacemaking in Amersham. Adults and children welcome\, normal museum entrance fee applies.

DESCRIPTION:Amersham Museum\n£13 including a glass of wine or soft drink\n\nThe short film dis-placed by Helen Henderson forms part of our temporary exhibition “The Town Swarmed with Culture.”  Join Helen and local historian Alison Bailey to see the exhibition\, watch the film on a large screen\, and find out more about Helen’s family history both in Russia and Buckinghamshire\, and how it has provided inspiration for her creative work. \nThis special evening opening will explore the exhibition themes: the wide-ranging émigré community who made this area their home; a special focus on Czechoslovak sculptor Mary Duras\, whose bust of Helen’s mother\, Irina Motchaloff is featured in the exhibition; and the backdrop of trauma and tragedy against which these refugees brought new creative energy to the area. \n\n \n  \nNotes\nIf you have queries about accessibility\, please get in touch and we would be happy to provide you with detailed information. \nPlease make sure you have checked details before ordering tickets. It is necessary for the museum to charge a cancellation fee of £1 to cover credit card and administration costs.
