SUMMARY:Madalyn Baskerville: Pottery Class
DESCRIPTION:Time: 10am-12.30pm Please arrive at 9.45am so we can start on time. \nOur craft workshops form part of the events programme linked to our Land Marks exhibition. Thanks to the Marie-Louise von Motesiczky Charitable Trust for enabling us to offer these sessions at subsidised rates.  \n\nImmerse yourself in a creative and meditative experience as you craft your own botanical pot using fresh foliage from the Chilterns. No previous experience necessary! \n\n\nIn this small class\, you will be taught by a pottery expert\, step-by- step techniques of slab-building\, to make a functional piece of pottery of your choosing. \n\n\nYou will be shown how to use foliage to create pattern and texture to make a unique plant pot\, mug\, pen\, utensil pot or reusable coffee cup. \n\n\nYou will use underglazes to add a splash of colour to the surface decoration. The piece will then be taken away\, fired and coated in glaze to make it water-resistant and food/ dishwasher safe. \n\n\nWhether you’re a seasoned potter or trying something new- this calming\, hands-on workshop offers a mindful escape and a beautiful\, one-of-a-kind piece of hand-made pottery to take home. \n\n\nPlease note the following: \n\n\n\nYou will need to allow 4 – 6 weeks after the workshop\, before collecting your pottery from the museum. You will be notified by email when your pottery is ready for collection.\nSuitable for beginners and those with a little experience aged 12 and over (any under 18s must be accompanied by a paying adult)\, including adults.\n\n\n \n\nWHAT’S INCLUDED: \n\n\n\nAll tools\, clay and glaze plus two firings (bisque and stoneware fire to make your pot waterproof)\nFoliage from the local landscape (feel free to bring your own favourites too!\nRelaxing atmosphere with expert guidance\nYour handmade pottery to take home\n\n\n\nGOOD TO KNOW: Please bring an apron or wear practical clothes & footwear that you don’t mind getting a little messy.
