Attached to the wall of 60 Broadway is a notice warning vagrants, ballad-singers etc to keep out of the town. This is a grade II listed building, and the notice is part of the listing. In the last year or two, members of the Amersham Society have noticed some deterioration in the notice and the Society has agreed to pay for conservation to be carried out on it. The owner of the house is supportive. It is exactly 25 years since the Amersham Society last paid for conservation work on the sign and we will be employing the same craftsman, Martin Cook.
We anticipate taking the sign down probably about the 2nd week in August and hope it will be down for about 2-3 weeks, but to some extent this depends on the condition that we find. Ideally, it should be replaced in time for Heritage Day.
