The memories and stories of local people are an integral part of the museum’s collection. The museum has an active oral history programme; we are always keen to interview local people about their memories of the town. Some of the clips from our collection of over 120 interviews are now available to listen to in the museum and on this page.

The museum is regularly offered donations, including objects, photographs and documents. If you have something that you think might be suitable for the museum we would be delighted to hear from you.

Like all museums, we think carefully about what we collect for the future and add items to the collection according to our Collections Development Policy

Please get in touch if you have something to share.

“Visited Amersham museum yesterday – lovely place, provides many details on the history of the place. Plenty of cute cafes, pubs and shops around also… not difficult to find free parking nearby. ”

“A well-run, informative and interesting small museum on the main street. It’s mostly volunteer-run and they do a great job in keeping it and making you feel welcome…Check out the herb garden too.”

“Enjoyable film and television location guided walk around Amersham hosted by Amersham Museum – here are the Sun Houses on Highover Park and further up the hill is High & Over.”
