| About this object | This is a studio portrait of Ursula Duparc, aged about 2 or 3, by Hermann Ernst Photographers, St John’s Wood. According to the Directory of London Photographers, 1841-1908, by Michael Pritchard, Hermann Ernst's photographic studio was only in Waverley Place, St. Johns Wood between 1891 to 1903. After that it moved to premises in Finchley Road. The trend for photographing children in large fashionable hats of the period can clearly be seen in photographs taken around the same time from 1900-1910. |
