About this object An extensive set of recipes for Goya perfumes, comprising handwritten and typed notes made by Ernest G Joyner, parfumier at Goya in the 1970s and 1980s. The cosmetics company Goya was founded in London in the 1930s but moved to Amersham at the end of the Second World War. There are over 100 documents in this large collection of notes and recipes developed over the years by Ernest Joyner, chief chemist and parfumier at Goya. Donated by his daughter, some are handwritten, some typed, and some are in a notebook. They provide insight into the growth and eventual decline of a company that played an important part in Amersham’s Post War employment and commercial history.
