Join us to celebrate the festive season!

We have a range of Christmas events coming up:

Our Christmas shopping weekend takes place on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th November, 12noon to 4.30pm.

Join us for a special weekend event to enable you to tick off your Christmas shopping lists while supporting the Museum! We have lots of Christmas present ideas – from our ever-popular Christmas hampers to vintage toys for stocking fillers, jigsaws, gifts for the gardener, handmade Christmas decorations and fabulous Christmas cards from local suppliers.

Our George Ward 2024 calendars and tote bags would make a lovely gift.  All this along with homemade cakes and fudges and many other great gift ideas. The Museum singing group will also be entertaining us with carols on Sunday 26 November at 2pm. Please do come along and support this important fundraising event – we look forward to seeing you there.

We will be open for late night Christmas shopping as part of the Old Amersham Christmas evening on Friday 1 December. Come and browse for locally-inspired gifts in our shop as well as enjoying vintage fairground rides, music, an outdoor dining area and artisan food and gift market.  The Museum shop will be open until 8pm.

On Saturday 2 December, we’ll be taking part in Amersham-on-the-Hill Christmas Festival with a stall inside St Michael’s Church on Sycamore Road. Come and find out more about the Museum and its activities, and be tempted by our range of gifts, all inspired by Amersham and its history. Organised by the Amersham Action Group in partnership with the Town Council, the Festival begins at 10am with a Christmas market, and festivities from 12pm. The official ‘switch-on’ of the Christmas tree at St. Michael’s Square takes place at 4.30 pm.

You can also see our Christmas tree, decorated as part of the Amersham Community Christmas Tree Festival at St Michael and All Angels Church on Sycamore Road, all through December. This wonderful initiative supports Wycombe Homeless Connection, with lots of local groups, schools and businesses all decorating and sponsoring a tree.  Ours has been designed by our Young Curators and Art Club to reflect the Museum and its collections.

December opening hours

The Museum will be fully open with our usual hours, Wednesday to Sunday 12noon to 4:30pm, until Sunday 3 December. Our wonderful lacemaking volunteers will be demonstrating this traditional local craft on Sunday 3 December, which is included with our standard admission price.

  • On Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 December, the Museum and shop will be open, 12noon to 4.30pm.
  • On Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 December, the Christmas shop only will be open with special hours of 10am to 2pm.

We will then close for the winter, but will be working busily behind the scenes ready for lots of exciting developments in 2024!

“Enjoyable film and television location guided walk around Amersham hosted by Amersham Museum – here are the Sun Houses on Highover Park and further up the hill is High & Over.”
