Brian Healy - Sword Beach approaching

Talk by Pete Healy

Wednesday 5 June 2024, 7pm-9pm

£9 per person including wine/soft drink

To celebrate the 80th anniversary of D-Day on 6th June, Amersham-born museum trustee, Pete Healy is presenting a talk ‘Brian Healy – to D-Day & beyond’ which documents his father’s role skippering a landing craft full of Royal Marine commandos on to Normandy’s Sword Beach near Ouistreham just 105 minutes after the first landing. Pete’s researches have found a wealth of images and videos to create those tense moments as the huge fleet approached the Normandy coast. Pete’s talk goes on to also describe a further troop landing in Burma shortly before the end of the war with Japan.

Please make sure you have checked details before ordering tickets. It is necessary for the museum to charge a cancellation fee of £1 to cover credit card and administration costs.

This talk will be held in the Museum’s Woodcock Room on the first floor. It is served by a platform lift as well as stairs. More information about building access is given here. If you have any queries or requirements, please do not hesitate to get in touch on 01494 723700 or [email protected]

“Visited Amersham museum yesterday – lovely place, provides many details on the history of the place. Plenty of cute cafes, pubs and shops around also… not difficult to find free parking nearby. ”

“A well-run, informative and interesting small museum on the main street. It’s mostly volunteer-run and they do a great job in keeping it and making you feel welcome…Check out the herb garden too.”

“Enjoyable film and television location guided walk around Amersham hosted by Amersham Museum – here are the Sun Houses on Highover Park and further up the hill is High & Over.”
