Talk – Potions, plants and physic: more secrets of the museum garden

Step back in time to a world where plants were prized for their many medicinal virtues. Medical historian John Minshull returns to Amersham Museum’s garden to explore the healing plants described in Nicholas Culpeper’s 1653 Pharmacopoeia Londinensis. The journey then moves closer to our own era with a look at handwritten recipes once used in Haddon’s Pharmacy, offering a fascinating glimpse into Amersham’s evolving medical traditions.
Weather permitting, the event will start in the garden with drinks and an introduction, followed by an illustrated talk in the first-floor Woodcock Room.
