For Bucks Arts Weeks, Amersham Museum is showcasing the work of local illustrator Elly Bazigos. We’ve worked with Elly since 2022 when she designed a textile inspired by the Museum’s collections and local historical figures. You can still buy tea towels featuring her design in person or via our online shop here: Shop – Amersham Museum

So we were excited to work with her on a bigger project to bring our new timeline display to life. Launched in March 2024, you can travel back in time from fossils to doll’s houses, Elizabeth I to Margaret Thatcher, exploring Amersham’s past through Elly’s hand painted illustrations.

Visitors can enjoy the timeline at any time during the Museum’s usual opening hours – see Visit the Museum – Amersham Museum

For Bucks Arts Weeks, we are hosting a special event on the evening of Tuesday 18 June, when you can work alongside Elly to create collages inspired by George Ward’s evocative photographs, while surrounded by our new timeline display brimming with her vibrant illustrations. The workshop is open to all to drop in and enjoy, stay as long as you’d like! More details here: Amersham Museum Evening Opening: Bucks Arts Weeks – Amersham Museum

We are also delighted to add an exclusive notelet set to our range, featuring 6 of Elly’s illustrations. The images include the Market Hall, a Metropolitan Line steam engine, and St Mary’s Church.  Priced at £6.50 for 6 notelets and envelopes, these are only available in Amersham Museum shop.
