Amersham Museum seeks a Producer and a Director for its next production of the Amersham Martyrs Community Play which is scheduled to take place in St Mary’s Church from 8 March – 20 March 2027. The Martyrs Play is a community-driven theatrical production that dramatizes the true story of the Amersham Martyrs—local men and women burned at the stake for their religious beliefs in the early 16th century. Commissioned and owned by Amersham Museum, the play was first performed in 2001 and has since been restaged several times, involving a large local cast and embracing a promenade style that places the audience amid the action. Experience has shown that the play requires a substantial lead time which is why planning is starting now for the 2027 production.
