Join us to celebrate St Catherine’s Day with our Lacemakers

Join us on Wednesday 25th November to see the traditional craft of bobbin lacemaking in action as our lacemakers mark St Catherine’s Day. Known as Cattern’s Day, lacemakers traditionally celebrated their patron saint’s feast day with a special cake, hot pot, and rituals to start the use of their candle block and globes to light their work during the winter months.
Our volunteer lacemakers will demonstrate how bobbin lace is made. There will be a chance to give it a go yourself, ask questions, and learn about the history of bobbin lacemaking in Amersham.
All welcome, normal museum entrance fee applies.
